The hook

Engagement is not a personality trait of your users. It is a loop you either designed or left to chance.

Intent · Design the behavioural loop that turns first use into habit — ethically, measurably, and without dark patterns that burn trust.

Take this if

Six signals you are leaking this value

01

Users sign up and never return

02

Engagement metrics are vanity counts

03

Rewards feel bolted on and are ignored

04

No understanding of user motivation or friction

05

Retention plans are email campaigns

06

Leaderboards demotivate the majority

About the course

Gamification is behavioural design: cue, routine, variable and fixed reward, and the progression that makes effort feel worth it.

We build persona-level motivation and friction maps by product stage, then design triggers, rewards and progression against real behavioural data.

2026 additions: AI-personalised triggers and rewards, ethical guardrails (no manipulative loops), and measurement with privacy-first analytics.

Tools you will use

  • Hook canvas
  • Persona motivation map
  • Reward matrix
  • Behaviour analytics plan
